About our Bishopsworth funeral home
Since 1994, when we opened our funeral directors here in Bishopsworth, we have arranged funerals for the local and wider South Bristol communities, providing a higher standard of service. There is on-street parking available outside our funeral home, along with nearby bus stops. Our funeral home is on one level, except for a small step on entry, so is accessible for those using a wheelchair or mobility aids.
Our funeral services
We offer the choice of three funeral options. The Attended Funeral, which you can tailor to however you wish to say goodbye to your loved one; the Unattended Funeral, which provides a dignified cremation, but without a service or mourners; and The Bristol Funeral, which also offers an unattended cremation but with a service held at one of the beautiful venues available in our Silver, Gold and Platinum packages.

Our mother’s funeral plan made the arrangements much easier than anticipated to organise. It was the first time that my brother and I had to play our part as Executors, and the planning of the funeral was a lot easier to deal with as the staff were so helpful and kind. From the moment we met Rachel at the Bishopsworth office to the day of my husband's funeral she was magnificent. Rachel acted with complete compassion, integrity and professionalism. Rachel outlined the options available to us in terms of the activities on the day of the funeral, the time leading up to that day and what would happen afterwards. I was encouraged to take my time when making decisions. On the day of the funeral Rachel and her team just did their job very quietly and with dignity. We were never rushed. Jane, the celebrant, did a very good eulogy and ensured the order of service was performed as planned Everyone who attended the service commented on how beautiful it was. As a family we couldn’t have asked for better service from the Bishopsworth Branch. From Rachel organising mum to go to the care centre, to coming into chapel we felt that she treated with complete care and respected. Once at Bishopsworth, Rachel ensure that we had time to grieve and see mum, ensuring she gave us the best advice each day. Rachel helped us to arrange the most beautiful funeral and on the day everything went so well. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better more compassionate service than what Rachel gave us. She made sure we left with no regrets. Nothing was ever to much trouble. We must not forget Lesley in all this who was also there to support whatever we needed. Dave and his team went above and beyond on the day of the funeral. We felt cared for and just not another number. The great communication from the whole team made things so much easier for us. Nothing was to much trouble for any of them. As a family we would like to thank the team at Bishopsworth for making a very sad time a lot easier to bear. I would highly recommend R.Davies & sons ,My experience with them was brilliant, I and my daughter live in Bishopsworth Bristol and had the pleasure to deal with a lovely lady called Rachel she was absolutely lovely very caring and compassionate and she helped us all the way with my husbands pure cremation ,kept us informed when needed and helped with decision’s , could not fault them .

From the moment we walked in through the door we were made welcome, offered refreshments and a sympathetic ear. So very important when grieving the loss of my mother. Covid had brought with it many restrictions, however I knew exactly what mum would have wanted and Rachel empathised, meeting all of my requests. As a result I feel we had done mum proud. The professionalism shown by the team is significant and we felt supported throughout. Given that Christmas was in between I received very prompt information throughout, along with emails to notify me of the Christmas closure. I was particularly impressed with the photograph that I had used on the order of service, Davies had enlarged it and framed it, this was placed on mums coffin and it was then given to me afterwards a lovely touch and it now sits on my window sill! I would wholeheartedly recommend Davies to anyone - we seldom "shop around" when it comes to this service provider and I have been very fortunate.

Rachel took care if everything She sorted tge Webcast for family out in Australia and tgey felt that they were sat in the service. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for Rachel she kept me informed every step of the way. We had great feed back from all those that attended saying it was tge best uplifting service they had been to. The Durector Nobby was a rock. He not only looked after Mum(the deceased) he put a arm around the whole family guiding us through Our Celebrant Steve was great we wanted a happy service and he certainly delivered. A massive Thank you to Rachel and Nobby.

R Davies and Son dealt with the funeral arrangements of my mother in 2014. We were impressed by their care and guidance then, so we had every confidence knowing that they were to organize my father's funeral. From the initial meeting, to discussing the floral arrangements, the participation of the minister and his help with the Order of Service, and the administration of the Care Plan, nothing was left to chance either by the office or at South Bristol Crematorium. Every question was answered thoroughly by the staff from Church Road, even to a follow-up phone-call asking how we were. The service itself was everything we expected and those who came to pay their respects agreed that the service showed extreme professionalism. The floral tributes were distributed among members of the family and a local care home who were delighted to receive them. We were also pleased to learn that there is a branch of the funeral directors here in Newport.
