    Pick any role associated with the funeral business and there's a very real chance that at some point during his career, Duncan has performed it. Starting out as a Funeral Service Operative, nearly 40 years ago, he has also been an Embalmer, a Memorial Consultant and a Funeral Director, among other roles. This time spent serving families who have lost a loved one has seen him take on all manner of tasks, from digging graves to conducting a funeral at sea. As a Business Leader, he nowadays looks after the needs of the eight R. Davies & Son funeral homes throughout Bristol.

    A member of the British Institute of Embalmers, Duncan also holds a diploma in funeral directing and it is caring for both the bereaved and the deceased that is his motivation for doing the job he loves. In fact, in all the time he has spent as part of the funeral industry, he says there has never been a day in which he hasn't enjoyed going to work.
    Duncan keeps himself active in his community, playing rugby for two different teams, as well as running the local allotment society. He also enjoys fishing, as well as taking his family's touring caravan out on the road.

Kate and Ross were lovely, going the extra mile to ensure that all our wishes were catered for and providing gentle support throughout.   • I would like to thank all of you at Preddy’s for helping me put together a very personal service of what I found such a sad sad day of my dearly beloved bestest friend ever Chas. The send off went well and I don’t know how I did it but I held up to read my poem myself without the need of help from Phil. It was something that I wanted to so much get through myself from the bottom of my heart for Chas 💔 Everybody at Preddy’s were so kind and helpful. The day i wanted to see Chas I was petrified - Lyn who so kindly sat with me and talked about him for ages with me until I was strong enough to go in. I was glad I saw him - and I felt I paid my respects to the end. Thank you Lyn. Tracey you were so helpful all the way through with helping organising things - nothing was too much trouble -and even your interest of reading the cards on the flowers stood out - and that you stood at the front of the Shop to pay your respects when the hurst left - that I noticed - thank you Tracey. The order of Service - the words that Phil used were down to earth and so meaningful and his help in preparing the whole thing i thank you for that Phil - sorry that we ran over! And last of all Sean thank you for your talk before the coffin going onto the hurst - this was a very emotional time. Thank you for suggesting I follow the hurst, although it was very hard to believe Chas was the person I was following it was a moment I now would not have wanted to miss. Although you cannot say it was a nice journey it was a sunny day and the route you took up to Westleigh was just perfect - it felt peaceful. The respect you played along the journey was wonderful and how you helped me when I got there - thank you so much for your kindness. - Deb
